I have a husband, 2 kids, 3 dogs, 2 cats, and very little sanity. Oh, and a job, too. Of course, when people ask me what I do, and I answer that I work at home, they say, "Oh, of course, mothering is a full time job."
No. Well, that too, but I also
work from home. As in - do a particular job, earn a paycheck. Telecommuting? Home office? Surely we've all heard of this by now?
Anyway. I'm a work at home Mom. My kids are 10 and 8. My husband is in car sales and has a 2-wheeled mistress (more on that later), so hes's gone a lot.
I've spent the last 10 years or so doing a lot of things for a lot of other people. Not much of it has been for myself. When I get to the core of what makes me tick, it always comes down to words. Reading them, writing them, using them to share opinions and ideas. I've had several people tell me I should have a blog. I've even started, and then promptly forgotten about, several.
This blog will be something different for me, though. This won't be a family update blog, though family will certainly factor in heavily. I will attempt to enlighten and amuse. I will share too much, perhaps, and my husband will cringe every now and then. I have a thing or two to say, and so I will say them and hope that they are interesting enough that others might appreciate the telling. I will be irreverent, sacrilegious, impatient, judgmental, sentimental, silly, and maybe even, at times, profane. There, consider yourself duly warned. I will talk about parenting practices, health, politics, and my constant struggle with being domestically disinclined.
And, of course, I'll drink some wine. I do like to have a glass or two. I hope you'll join me.
